The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Nigeria has announced that Lagos will host the 10th anniversary of the ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), a milestone edition scheduled for June 3 to 5, 2026. The event will take place at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, and is expected to attract leading legal minds, policymakers, arbitrators, judges, and business leaders from across Africa and beyond.

Since its launch in 2016, the ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration and ADR has grown into one of the continent’s most influential platforms for dialogue on dispute resolution. The conference was hosted in Lagos for its first seven editions before moving to Nairobi, Kenya, for the eighth and ninth editions.

The 10th anniversary marks a symbolic return to Lagos, where the conference began, underscoring Nigeria’s central role in the evolution of arbitration and ADR on the continent.

Announcing the event, ICC Nigeria described the anniversary edition as a defining moment for Africa’s arbitration community, bringing together stakeholders to reflect on the progress made over the past decade while shaping the future of dispute resolution in Africa’s rapidly evolving commercial landscape.

The Chair of the Arbitration and ADR Commission of ICC Nigeria, Professor Dorothy Ufot, SAN, expressed confidence that the conference would be a standout event on the continental and global arbitration calendar.

“We are thrilled to announce that ICC Nigeria will host the 10th anniversary of the ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration & ADR in 2026. This conference promises to be the mother of all arbitration and ADR conferences on the African continent, and we are excited to bring together the best minds in international arbitration and ADR from across Africa and beyond,” she said.

“As Chair of the Arbitration & ADR Commission of ICC Nigeria, I am confident that this event will provide a unique opportunity for delegates to engage with leading experts in the field and to discuss the latest trends and challenges in international arbitration and ADR in Africa. We look forward to welcoming you to Lagos in 2026!”

The conference is designed as a continental gathering of experts and practitioners, featuring keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions. It is targeted at lawyers, arbitrators, judges, policymakers, academics, private sector players, and students from universities across Africa, offering a broad and inclusive platform for knowledge sharing and professional engagement.

According to ICC Nigeria, a high-powered planning committee is already working on developing a compelling theme that will reflect the full spectrum of arbitration and ADR practice in Africa. The theme, which will be unveiled in due course, is expected to address emerging trends, practical challenges, and opportunities within the African arbitration ecosystem.

Organisers described the 10th anniversary edition as a landmark event that will not only celebrate a decade of impact but also set the agenda for the next phase of arbitration and ADR development across the continent. Participants are expected to engage in forward-looking discussions that will influence policy, practice, and institutional frameworks in Africa.

ICC Nigeria urged stakeholders to save the date and be part of what promises to be a defining moment for international arbitration and ADR in Africa. Registration details will be announced in the coming months.

ICC Nigeria is the national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, the world business organization, and is committed to promoting international trade and investment while providing a platform for constructive engagement between businesses and governments in Nigeria.
