The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice K. O. Alogba, is set to decongest Correctional Centres in Lagos.

The Notice which was signed by the Chief Registrar and made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) reads in part:

“Pursuant to the directive of the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice K. O. Alogba, and in preparation for the next Correctional Centre Decongestion exercise, the members of the Bar and General Public are hereby requested to send to the Chief Registrar, High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja on or before Thursday, the 20th March, 2020, detailed particulars of any Awaiting Trial Inmates at any of the Centres in Lagos State who have been remanded in custody for a period of 2 years and above for minor offences.”

Details of the inmates required are as follows:

=Name of Parties
=High Court Division and Number/Magistrate Court District and Number
=Suit Number/Charge Number
=Status of case
=Next adjourned Date. =Number of years Awaiting Trial
