Lagos State Police Command on Monday, September 11, paraded 13 suspects for alleged impersonation, armed robbery, unlawful possession of substances and ammunition, stealing, cultism, rape, and other crimes.

The command, recovered four firearms, two live cartridges, an expended cartridge, 11 live ammunition, one vehicle, two wrist-watches, six phones, variants of hard drugs, a police warrant card, a walkie-talkie, a police camouflage cap, and a singlet from the suspects.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest while briefing Newsmen on the recent achievements recorded by the command at its Headquarters.

Hundeyin said: “Operatives of the command, on September 2, arrested Emmanuel Nwagu, male, for impersonating himself as Commissioner of Police, during a visit to police formation in Ikorodu.

“He was fully regarded as such but upon questioning, he was discovered to be an impersonator. A search was conducted at his abode and a Deputy Commissioner of Police warrant card, Kenwood walkie-talkie, police camouflage singlet and face cap were recovered.”

“Following a complaint from the Nigeria Bar Association, Epe, Lagos, the Command operatives on the 4th of September, nabbed one Ibrahim Bello, male, who was fully dressed like a lawyer, for presenting himself as a Lawyer for several years. Upon arrest, was discovered to be fake.

“Items found out with him, which were also paraded, were his portraits with an inscription: “Bello Law Firm Office, Obas & Chiefs of Lagos State Law Tenancy Law 2015, Due Process of Law and Law of Trespass of Land and Nuisance.”

He further stated: “Other suspects arrested included a female, Ganiyat Oni, for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs: 97 wraps of colours, 22 wraps of loud, some mixture of loud and Arizona and a sum of Two hundred and seventy-one thousand, six Hundred naira (N271,600), her proceeds as at the time of the arrest.

“The Operative also arrested armed robbers in possession of two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, wristwatches, phones, and the sum of N482,000.

“Another suspect, John Eze, on August 24th, was arrested for defiling a 13-year-old neighbour’s daughter, in Lekki phase 1.”
