The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has sanctioned all the officers involved in the manhandling of an Uber Driver, Adedotun Clement during the #EndSARS anniversary protest at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos.

At the protest, which was covered by The Nation, Adedotun was beaten, brutalised, pepper-sprayed and forcefully dragged into a black Maria but he resisted the forceful attempts.

While addressing journalists at the scene, Adedotun said he was in his car when he heard people shouting.

He decided to run for cover and left his vehicle. He further explained that on his way back, trying to locate his car, some officers stopped him and started dragging and beating him.

In a statement released by the agency, the two LNSA officers and the supervising officers were charged with disreputable conduct concerning the use of pepper spray which is not a standard issue kit for officers of the agency and general unruly behaviours capable of breaching public peace.

The two officers involved in the assault were publicly de-kitted and suspended from the agency for the next 2 months.

They are also to be redeployed to another command of the agency for behavioural evaluation and further reprimand.

Similarly, the commanding superintendents and the Divisional Commander for Lagos Division of LNSC, under whose jurisdiction and Command at the event were also suspended for one month and their deputies are to act in their place until further notice with immediate effect.

The agency also apologised to the Uber driver for the conduct of its officers stating that the agency is committed to the security of lives and properties of Lagosians.
