The Kwara State House of Assembly has directed its Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development to investigate the alleged transfer of ownership of a four-bedroomed property of the state government, ‘Alimi Lodge,’ to the immediate-past Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki.

The resolution of the House was sequel to a matter of general importance raised by the member representing Irepodun Constituency, Omotayo Awodiji, on the ownership of ‘Alimi Lodge,’ during plenary on Tuesday.
Awodiji, had explained that the lodge was transferred to the former governor under the Kwara State Pension Law for Governors and Deputy Governors, adding that the lodge was not transferable as it was meant for the sitting Chief Executive of the state.
Other members, who spoke on the matter, explained among other things, that due process was not observed, pointing out that the alleged transfer of the lodge was in violation of due process.
The Speaker, Yakubu Salihu, said it was expedient for the House to investigate the matter in order to put an end to all forms of abnormality in the state.
The Assembly said the committee should give its report on Thursday.
Similarly, the House directed its Committee on Health and Environment to investigate accumulation of refuse in some parts of Ilorin metropolis, following a matter of general public importance, raised by the member representing Ilorin East Constituency, Jimoh Yusuf.
