A Lagos High Court in Igbosere has ordered parties to a kingship dispute of the Oniba of Iba to henceforth maintain status quo.

Justice T.Oyekan-Abdullahi told the four claimants and five defendants that the court was functus officio (of no further official authority or legal effect) in the suit marked: LD/6917/ID/134/2010.

The claimants are: Chief Taofeek Oseni (Baale of Oniba); Price Kazeem Adedayo Oseni (Regent of Oniba); Prince Andrew Adegbola Shonibare and Prince Olusegun David Oyewole Orootan.

The defendants are: Arowolo Obadiah, Sakiru Suberu; Busari Raji, Sulaimon Raji; and Mojidi Obanla Ashade.

The ruling was delivered on Monday July 20, this year.

Ahead of the intervention by the court however, there had been accusations and counter-accusations between three ruling houses-Shonibare, Oseni and Orootan of the Oduntan main branch of the Idomila Ruling House, against the Idowu Balogun Ruling House.

The immediate past Oniba, Oba Yushau Goriola passed on Saturday May 23, this year.
