Renowned music executive Kenny Ogungbe, who played a pivotal role in shaping the Nigerian music scene through his Kennis Music label in the early 2000s, has completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program at the age of 53. Ogungbe shared pictures from his Passing Out Parade (POP) on Thursday, which have since gone viral on social media.

Ogungbe captioned the photos on his Instagram page, stating, “NYSC graduation/POP today. Lagos/12C graduation day. To God be the glory.” His completion of the one-year mandatory NYSC service for Batch C stream was marked on Thursday, October 12.

The news of Ogungbe’s NYSC service completion stirred various reactions from the public.

Some were surprised to discover that the 53-year-old had once been a youth corps member, while others speculated that this could be a sign of his intention to enter politics. Under the NYSC Act, all graduates under the age of 30 are required to participate in the one-year national service program.

Rumors circulated that Baba Wan (as he is fondly called) may be preparing to meet the eligibility requirements for a potential run in the 2027 general elections. These speculations led to a series of jokes and memes about Baba Wan’s fashionable take on his NYSC khaki uniform.

Kenny Ogungbe has not yet addressed the rumors regarding his potential political aspirations. Instead, many fans and netizens found amusement in seeing a youthful version of the veteran entertainer.

Kenny Ogungbe first gained fame in the early 2000s for his partnership with comedian Akinbella Emmanuel, popularly known as Baba Wan. Their comedic duo, known as ‘KB+Babanwan,’ became a household name through their performances and radio programs. Baba Wan is known for his pidgin English and razz style, while Kenny Ogungbe exhibits a more refined and intellectual persona. Both entertainers remain active in creating comedy content, events, and TV productions.
