Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has asked the newly sworn-in Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar; and the Grand Khadi, Alhaji Siddiku Usman, to be diligent in discharging their statutory responsibilities through quick dispensation of justice.

The governor gave the task at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi the state capital on Monday.

Idris said, “I want to charge you to be alive to your responsibilities, I urge you to be above board in the discharge of your official duties. It is your duty to ensure quick dispensation of justice to all manner of people in the state.”

He assured them that “government is ready to give you the necessary support at all time to facilitate your duties because the judiciary is an important arm of government that this administration must not joke with.”

In his response, Abubakar appreciated the governor for the honour and pledged to work according to the Oath of Office undertaken as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.

In a related development, the governor also inaugurated Boards of Agencies, Departments and Parastatals including; Governing Board for the State University, Aliero, Boards for College of Nursing Sciences, College of Education, Argungu, Preaching Board as well as the College of Health Sciences, Jega among others.

Idris used the occasion to inform farmers in the state that pumping machines would be supplied to aid farming activities and early bumper harvest to complement the National Food Security Programme of the Federal Government.

The occasion was attended by top government functionaries, members of their families, friends as well as well-wishers.
