Justice Zaynab Bashir of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria has donated a digital learning and Information and Communication Technology centre to Martin Sanda Girls Science College in Paiko, Niger State, as part of efforts to improve digital literacy and expand educational opportunities for girls.

The newly inaugurated facility is equipped to support ICT-based teaching and learning and expose students to essential digital skills required for careers in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The intervention also included the renovation of classroom blocks within the school to provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Speaking during the inauguration, Justice Bashir said the project was her contribution towards improving access to quality education for the girl child and equipping young women with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the modern economy.

She described education as a powerful and transformative tool capable of changing individual lives, strengthening communities and advancing national development.

Justice Bashir expressed hope that the ICT centre would inspire the students to pursue excellence in science, technology and innovation.

She urged the beneficiaries to use the facility responsibly by embracing digital learning, creativity and innovation, stressing that investment in girls’ education remained one of the most effective ways of building stronger families, communities and a more prosperous country.

The judge also called on privileged Nigerians to support public schools and complement government efforts to improve access to quality education.

Justice Bashir thanked Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for creating what she described as an enabling environment for educational development in the state.

She said the administration’s support for public education encouraged her to undertake and complete the project.

Inaugurating the ICT centre, Governor Bago commended Justice Bashir, a native of Paiko, for investing in the future of young girls through education and technology.

He described the project as a patriotic intervention that complemented the state government’s efforts to modernise public schools and improve the quality of education.

The governor announced that the Niger State Government would construct a perimeter fence, science laboratory and sports complex for the school to further enhance security, teaching, learning and extracurricular development.

Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening science and technology education across the state.

He also urged parents in Paiko and surrounding communities to encourage their children, particularly girls, to pursue careers in medicine and other health-related professions.

According to him, investment in the education and professional development of young people would support the state’s long-term healthcare and human-capital development plans.

Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada; Chairman of Paikoro Local Government Area, Aminu Yandai; and the member representing Paikoro Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly, Umar Nasir, also commended Justice Bashir for the intervention.

They praised Governor Bago for sustaining investments in education and infrastructure across Niger State and described the ICT centre as a significant contribution to the future of girls in Paiko.
