*Nomination Of Candidates Ends December 18

The Federal High Court has announced that it will soon consider candidates for appointment as judges of the Federal High Court

This is contained in a Notice titled “APPOINTMENT OF SIX (6) ADDITIONAL JUDGES FOR THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT BENCH” signed by the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court, Honourable Justice John T. Tsoho, and sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer(TNL).

It reads in part, “I write to inform Your Lordships, the Honourable Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and President of the Nigerian Bar Association that the consideration of candidates for possible appointment as judges of the Federal High Court will soon commence.”

Addressees of the Notice include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Presidents of the Court of Appeal and National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Attorney-General of the Federation, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Judges of the 36 states of the Federation including FCT, Presidents of the Customary Courts of Appeal of states and FCT and Grand Khadis of various States.

Hon. Justice Tsoho urged them to recommend qualified persons on or before December 18

The decision is in line with the NJC Guidelines and Procedural Rules for the appointment of judicial officers of Superior Courts.

“I, therefore, invite Your Lordships, the Honourable Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and President of the Nigerian Bar Association to kindly nominate suitably qualified persons for appointment to the Federal High Court Bench

“Your recommendations should reach my Chambers, latest by the 18th December, 2020.” the Notice reads
