The Commandant General of the Civil Defense Corps, Abdullahi Gana Mubammadu has said that the Corps officer who was alleged to have prevented Justice Elizabeth Karatu never did that, as the video was misinterpreted.

According to him, the whole premises were under lock and key, and the Corps member was only trying to explain this to the judge which was misunderstood.

This was made known to TNL, in a press statement. He thus called on all parties to sue for peace.

Worried by the video in circulation on a social media allerging that the Corps personnel stopped a sitting judge from entering the court, the Commandant General of the Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu called for calmness and sued for peace in the state.

He said, the Corps is a law-abiding agency of government meant to protect everyone and their property and could not do otherwise by infringing of the fundamental right of the people.

He said, citing of the video on the social media, he has immediately called in the state command and also constitute a committee to look into the matter for appropriate action.

However, the report from the State, said the Court was under lock and key by the government and the personnel was assigned to protect the environment for being vandalised.

The report stated that, when the Judge came to the court premise, the personnel approached her to inform her of the development that she can’t gain entrance into the chamber as everywhere is under lock and key but unfortunately he was not given a listening ear rather was alleged of preventing the judge from entering.

Gana reiterated that, the Corps under is watch will never take side rather will deliver quality services to all and sundry irrespective of class or creed.

Therefore, the incident should not be misunderstood or giving different interpretations.

He said the Corps does not have any ulterior motives towards anyone. He called on the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary for peaceful resolution as well as the Nigeria Bar Association and urged them to be calmed as the Corps respect the sanity of every office.
