*Directs Their Immediate Release From Custody
The Republic of Uganda has withdrawn the charges filed against Nigerian Artistes, Omah Lay and Tems for alleged breach of COVID-19 protocols.
In addition, an order has been made directing the immediate release of the artistes from custody.
This is contained in an order made by a Magistrate Grade One, Okumu Jude Muwone to Kigo Prison which was sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer.
It was stated that the charges against Muyiwa Awoniyi, Stanley Omah Didia, Temilade Opaniyi “has been withdrawn against them vide Withdrawal Form Serial No, 4292 dated 15th December, 2020”.
Consequently, the Prison authorities were directed to release them from custody “forthwith unless held on other charges”.
TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that the artistes were arrested over their involvement in an unauthorised concert that was held on Saturday night in Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala City.
Consequently, they were remanded in custody and later arraigned before the Court.
