The ban on the registration portal for 2017 NBA Annual General Conference has been lifted for lawyers to continue with their registration. This was contained in the press release by the president of the Association, AB Mahmoud after meeting with the TCCP and LOC.Below reads the press release.

Dear Colleague,

I thank you all for the support you have shown towards the NBA Annual General Conference 2017, which is intended to be a face-changing programme for our Bar, the legal profession in Nigeria, and indeed the entire continent.

The response from the Bar has been most encouraging and has reinforced our justification for ensuring that the event for this year remains memorable for our members.

I have been impressed by the level of interest demonstrated by intended delegates for the Conference, which has indeed matched our expectations.

However, some of our members have experienced some difficulties in completing their registration process as a result of varying glitches or limitations with the online registration process.
To ease these concerns, I have met with the TCCP and the LOC and worked out modalities to ensure that these difficulties are addressed. This will be to ensure that there is continued registration by categories of delegates that have hitherto been informed that the Conference was “sold out”.

Therefore, the registration portal is now open to all intended delegates for the Conference, without restriction. This will be done bearing in mind the utmost importance of our concerns for health and safety, and the need to ensure that the available infrastructure, facilities and other resources available at our venues are not overstretched and are adequate for its capacity of delegates. Registration for the Conference and indeed participation cannot be limitless, and will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis. We shall continue to monitor the registration process to ensure a hitch-free experience.

I thank you for your support so far and urge all, lawyers, senior and junior alike to complete their registration in good time.

I look forward to seeing you in Lagos.

Signed: Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, OON, SAN
President, Nigerian Bar Association
