A Kano State High Court presided by Hon. Justice Namallam, has on this day, the 19th of November, 2018, at about 12.00 pm, granted an interim injunction sought by the Plaintiff/Applicant, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, in a defamation case filed against Jafaar S. Jafaar and the Daily Nigerian Newspaper.
The application sought for AN ORDER restraining the 1st and 2nd Defendant and their agents from publishing, sharing or spreading videos injurious to the Plaintiff/Applicant, pending the determination of the substantive application slated for hearing on the 6th of December, 2018.
The Governor’s Counsel, Nuradeen Ayagi Esq., in a further oral adumbration of his legal arguments, stressed the importance of restraining other parties associated with Jafaar S. Jafaar, and the Daily Nigerian Newspaper when asked by the Court to shed more light on the use of the word ‘entities’ in referring to the agents of the Defendants.
The Court also granted the second prayer of the Plaintiff/Applicant for AN ORDER of substituted service on the defendants, and ordered publications in the Daily
Trust Newspapers and Leadership Newspapers as sufficient service to them.
Hearing of the Motion on Notice has been slated for the 6th day of December, 2018.
