The Magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Raji, ordered Godwin, 26, be remanded at Kirikiri Prisons, after he pleaded guilty to stealing. Raji adjourned the case till Wednesday for facts and sentencing. Godwin lives at Power line in Alagbado, near Lagos. The prosecutor, Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 28 at Jungle bus stop, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos. He said the accused was caught with the battery by a security guard at midnight. “When he was asked where he got the battery from, he said he removed it from a parked vehicle in Agege. But he refused to take the guard there.” Egunjobi said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
