Yesterday marked the swearing-in ceremony of the Acting Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Tanko Muhammad, swore-in Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf as the Acting Chief Judge of the High Court, Federal Capital Territory and five other Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal namely: Salisu Garba, Bashir Danmaisule, Muhammad A. Sadis, Lawa Sule and Abdullahi Adam Al-Ilorin.

The CJN implored the newly sworn in Judicial officers to be diligent and to carry out their respective duties with utmost sincerity and regard to the Constitution as well as the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The swearing-in of the Acting Chief Judge of the FCT comes as a result of the resignation of the former Chief Judge of the Court, Salisu Garba who was appointed as the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI).

In attendance at the event were distinguished members of the Bench and the bar. Notable was Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, pioneer Chairman of NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law, who congratulated the newly sworn-in Acting Chief Judge of the FCT. He wished the new Acting Chief Judge a very successful stay in office.

According to the Learned Silk, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf is an exemplary and visionary jurist that will bring much-needed reforms to the FCT Judiciary.

It can be recalled that Hon. Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf chaired the most recent edition of the Hon. Justice Chukwudifu Oputa JSC (Rtd) Professional Training and Mentoring Program for Young Lawyers held from Friday, April 23, 2021 to Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Hon. Justice S.M.A Belgore Conference Hall, J-K Gadzama Court, Garki 2, Abuja.
