The chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association-Security Agencies Relations Committee (NBA-SARC) Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama SAN, on Wednesday participated in the foundation laying of NBA Yenagoa Bar House.

Yenagoa branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yenagoa Branch, had her groundbreaking ceremony at the premises of the High Court of Bayelsa State, Yenagoa, as the portion of land purposed for the erection of the Bar House was allocated to the Branch by the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri.

As an adopted son of the soil, trustee of the Hon. Seriake Dickson Golf and a member of the Country Club in Yenagoa and member of the Bayelsa State Sports Committee headed by His Royal Majesty King Alfred Diete Spiff, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN was invited as the special guest of honor. He congratulated the members of the Branch on the achievement of the laudable feat. Hon. Nimi Walson Jack, a former General Secretary of the NBA alongside Mela Audu Nunghe, SAN  represented Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN at the ceremony.

Mela Audu Nunghe, SAN who participated in laying the foundation on behalf of Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN commended the Branch and extended the greetings and good wishes of Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN.

The Deputy Governor of the State who is also a lawyer in his own right, His Excellency, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who stood in for the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Hon. Douye Diri was also in attendance. He (the Deputy Governor, Bayelsa State), informed all the attendees that the Yenagoa Bar House had been a dream in the hearts of the Members of the Branch for about 17 years. He commended the pivotal role the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State played in ensuring the attainment of this long time dream of the NBA, Yenagoa Branch.

The Attorney General of Bayelsa State, Biriyai Dambo, SAN also participated in the ceremony and expressed his immense gratitude to all stakeholders who facilitated the realization of this dream.

The Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri who was also present at the ceremony promised that the judiciary in the state will continue to render the necessary support needed in ensuring that this project becomes a reality in good time.

The ceremony was indeed a historic and happy one for the Nigerian Bar and Bayelsa State. The Chairman, Ukumbiriowei Saiyou, Esq. and other members of the Branch expressed their gratitude to the Governor of the State, the Deputy Governor of the State, the Chief Judge of the State, the Attorney General of the State and Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, for their immense support in taking the branch to the next level.
