Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said that the weekend attack on the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, was a warning to “those engaged in selling (Igbo) collective interest to Fulani caliphate.”

Ekweremadu was attacked by some IPOB members in Nuremberg, Germany, on Saturday.

Ekweremadu, who confirmed the attack in a statement released by his Media Assistant, Uche Anichukwu in Abuja late Saturday, said, “I attended the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in Nuremberg today, where I was billed to give a keynote address along with the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who, however, could not make it eventually.

“I was given a resounding welcome by Ndigbo in Germany and everything went smoothly until some men, who identified themselves as IPOB members, stormed the venue and began to complain about the killings in the South East, stressing that there would be no Igbo event at the venue.

“I tried to engage them, but when they became unruly, I had to leave the venue. The organisers also invited the police and I was accompanied out of the venue.

However, taking to his unverified Twitter handle @MaziNnamdiKanu on Sunday afternoon, Kanu tweeted,

“The courageous act by IPOB at Nürnberg Germany is a polite warning to those engaged in selling our collective interest to Fulani caliphate. Nwodo, Igbo govs are warned.”

He also said he would make a broadcast on Sunday via Radio Biafra FM, App, satellite and online, at “7 pm Biafraland Time.”

Meanwhile, the Nd’Igbo Unity Forum, a Pan-Igbo socio-cultural and political group, on Sunday urged the German government and its law enforcement agencies to fish out those who attacked Ekweremadu.

President of NUF, Mr. Augustine Chukuwudum, told NAN in Enugu that the furious attack on the distinguished senator was “uncivilised and barbaric.”

“NUF condemns attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Germany by members of IPOB.

“What has he done wrong that they wanted to kill him?

“Ekweremadu is one of the highly placed Igbo politicians who has been speaking for the betterment of Nd’Igbo at the National Assembly and at a national level for the past 12 years.

“The senator remains the only Igbo politician who has done well for Nd’Igbo and that is why we are asking the question, ‘What has he done wrong that IPOB wants to kill him?’’ Chukwudum said.

Continuing, Chukwudum said, “They must be brought to book and be punished according to the law.

“We also call on the Federal Government to provide adequate security for him.’’ (NAN)
