Human rights activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday mocked the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, during an appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja, jokingly criticising his past role in government and the state of the justice system.

In a video circulating online, Sowore was seen addressing Malami directly, saying the former Minister of Justice was now experiencing the same system he once defended.

“You see how it feels now to be persecuted. When you were with Buhari at that time, you were bragging. We warned you then that there is failure in the justice system, but you didn’t listen, and now the system is dealing with you,” Sowore said.

He added, “There is failure in the system. The system is dealing with you now.”

Sowore, who has had several encounters with law enforcement agencies in the past, also made symbolic gestures during the exchange, offering Malami a “revolutionary cap.”

“I want to give you my cap. This is a revolutionary cap,” he said.

Despite his criticism, Sowore acknowledged Malami’s resilience, stating, “At least I’m glad that you are strong.”

The activist insisted that the challenges facing the country’s justice system affect both critics and former officials alike.

“We are not all on the same side… even the oppressors are oppressing you now,” he said.

Sowore further reiterated his long-held position on governance and accountability in Nigeria.

“As far as the Nigeria project is concerned, no matter how powerful you people are, we will never support you. We are resilient till tomorrow,” he said.

Malami, who responded briefly during the exchange, maintained that he remained engaged with legal proceedings.

“I can never be down. Well, I have been attending all my court sittings. I will keep attending. And I remain strong,” he said.

The former minister added that he has been attending all African Democratic Congress ,eetings but could not attend the opposition summit in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, over the weekend.
