Nigerian social media influencer, Mr. Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, popularly known as Ijele Speaks II, has filed a motion on notice at the Magistrate court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, asking the court to set aside his remand at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Ofoegbu, who was detained by the Nigeria Police Force over his allegations against Evangelist Ebuka Obi, is seeking an order directing his release from prison or, alternatively, admitting him to bail pending the conclusion of the investigation by the Inspector General of Police.

In his viral post, Ofoegbu had called Pastor Ebuka Obi a liar, tagging all his miracles as deceits and urging the police to arrest him for turning his religious institution into a business enterprise. Subsequently, the police in Abuja invited Ijele to their station for an alleged case of criminal intimidation, threat to life, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying against the pastor.

According to court documents , Ofoegbu claims that the police misled the court by suppressing and misrepresenting material facts when seeking the remand order. He argues that he voluntarily honored the police invitation and did not interfere with their investigation.

Ofoegbu’s counsel, Marvin Omorogbe, contends that his client is constitutionally presumed innocent until proven guilty and is entitled to liberty and the grant of bail pending the conclusion of the investigation and arraignment, if any. The motion also states that the alleged offense for which Ofoegbu was remanded is bailable and that he is a responsible Nigerian who has never been involved in any crime.
