The National Industrial Court of Nigeria –Abeokuta Division on Monday 27 January 2025 commenced its maiden (first) inaugural sitting at the Court premises located at High Court Complex, Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The inauguration of the Abeokuta Judicial division was part of efforts by the court under the leadership of Hon. President of the Court, Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, OFR to strengthen the administration of labour justice in the State and to encourage industrial harmony in line with international best practices.
In his address, the Hon. President, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip who was represented by the Chief Registrar, Mr Olurotimi Williams Daudu stated that this historic event signifies a new chapter in the pursuit of industrial justice in Ogun State and urged the members of the Bar to make use of the new division for timely dispensation of justice.
His Lordship Hon. Justice Sanda Yelwa conducted the inaugural sitting. The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Chief Registrar (DCR) from Lagos, alongside the staff of NICN Abeokuta.
The inaugural case was a Motion Exparte by the Claimant’s counsel in suit no NICN/AB/13/2024.
