His Lordship, Hon. Justice Kenneth Amadi and 17 other judges have been sworn in as the Justices of the Court of Appeal today Monday 28th June 2021 by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed CFR at the Supreme Court of Nigeria Complex, Abuja.

Historically, Justice Amadi became the first Judge of the National Industrial Court to be elevated to the appellate court since the inception of the court as a superior court of record from mere tribunal.

The National Industrial Court has exclusive jurisdiction on civil causes and matters relating to or connected with any labour, employment, trade unions, industrial relations and matters arising from workplace, the conditions of service, including health, safety, welfare of labour, employee, worker, and matters incidental thereto or connected therewith, etc.

His Lordship, Hon. Justice Kenneth Ikechukwu Amadi hails from Abho-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, South East, Nigeria.

Justice Amadi attended Town School, Uvuru for First School Leaving School, and Ngwa High School, Abayi, Abia State for West Africa School Certificate.

In conglutinating of his aspiration for a better future, Milord Amadi studied at Imo State University, Okigwe for LL.B; attended Nigeria Law School, Lagos Centre, and was called to the respectable Bar in 1990 as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

During Justice Amadi’s youthful age, he performed the mandatory NYSC primary assignment with Igwe and Dike Law Firm, Port Harcourt, and started his legal career with Chuks Muoma (SAN) and Associates, Aba, Abia State as a Solicitor.

Quintessentially, in furtherance to consolidate on the gains of his career, His Lordship obtained Masters of Law [LL.M] from the Prestigious University of Uyo, and also got Ph.D. in Public and Private Law, from the celebrated University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

At a time when his colleague was doubting Thomas, Justice Amadi opened his personal chamber, Ken Ike AMADI, and Co and was later appointed as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu State before his judicial appointment as a bench of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in 2013.

His Lordship has several publications to his credit. Before his judicial appointment, he had served as the General Secretary and later Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mbaise Branch. Justice Amadi has attended many courses on International Labour Standard both home and abroad.

Justice Amadi served in the Lagos Judicial division of the Industrial Court between 2013 to 2017 before his transfer to Jos Judicial division in 2018 covering both Bauchi and Gombe divisions and has delivered uncountable landmark Judgments and rulings.

The Hon. President of the Court, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, FNIALS led other judges of the court to the swearing-in ceremony.
