Chief Mela Audu Nunghe, SAN, Bencher and President of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS), has urged Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey and renew their commitment to justice, unity, and progress as the country marks its Independence Day.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Chief Nunghe highlighted the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and the resilience of its citizens, noting that independence carries both the gift of freedom and the responsibility to uphold the nation’s core values.

“Independence is not just about the freedom won in the past, but also about the responsibility we bear today to build a nation where justice, prosperity, and hope thrive for all,” he said.

Chief Nunghe called on all Nigerians to work together in the spirit of patriotism, tolerance, and dedication, emphasizing that such unity is essential to making Nigeria a beacon of greatness.

“As we raise our flags high, may this Independence Day rekindle in us the values of courage, dedication, and love for our homeland,” he added.

The NLS President concluded his message with a patriotic note: “Happy Independence Day! Long live our nation! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”
