It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that I pen this tribute in honor of Prof. Ijaodola Abdulrasheed SAN, my distinguished external examiner during my LL.M program at Nasarawa State University, who has sadly transitioned to eternal rest.
I had the privilege of engaging with him between 2020 and 2021 during my LL.M project external defense. Prof. Abdulrasheed, in the exercise of his professional judgment and with utmost objectivity, meticulously assessed my research work and, without hesitation, awarded me an ‘A.’ This meritorious evaluation culminated in my emergence as the highest graduating student with a CGPA of 4.8 at the time of my clearance from the program.
Despite hailing from another state in western Nigeria, Prof. Abdulrasheed exhibited commitment to his duties. He was temporarily accommodated in a hotel in Utako, Abuja, and on at least two occasions, I had the honor of personally conveying him to Nasarawa State University to discharge our academic obligations. His conduct was marked by professionalism, humility, and fairness, attributes that left an indelible impression on me.
Upon the successful completion of my defense in 2021, we captured that memorable moment in photographs an occasion that, unbeknownst to me, would be the last time I would behold his esteemed presence. His demise is an irreparable loss to the legal academia and to all who were privileged to be beneficiaries of his profound intellect and vast experience.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the legal and academic communities at large. May the Almighty God bless his soul and may Allah, the Most Merciful, grant him eternal repose. His legacy of excellence and dedication to the advancement of legal education shall continue to resonate through generations yet unborn.
Adieu, learned professor. Your legacy remains immortal.
