*Wishes Them Fulfilling Career

The immediate past General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Jonathan Taidi, has congratulated the newly appointed judges of the Federal High Court.

President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the appointment of six new judges for the Federal High Court of Nigeria and one for the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

The new judges were approved by the Presidency as part of concerted efforts to make the ever-busy courts cope with the volume of work that may arise in the 2023 general election disputes and were sworn in on Tuesday February 20, 2022

Taidi, in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, urged the new judges to play proactive roles in strengthening the administration of justice and restoring confidence of the public on the judiciary

He said, “I congratulate Hon Justice Emmanuel Garko, Hon Justice Musa Sulaiman Liman, Hon Justice Mabel T. Segun-Bello-, Hon Justice Bala Khalifa Mohammed Usman, Hon Justice Ahmed Gamma Mahmud, Hon Justice Aminu Garba and Hon Justice Joseph Adrbayo Aina on your deserved appointments as Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria and High Court of Federal Capital Territory and your Swearing In by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

“Your appointment is coming at a period when the administration of justice in the country is bedeviled with numerous challenges. Therefore, you must not only become part of the process of finding enduring solution to the perennial problems, but indeed play a more proactive role in strengthening the process of our justice administration and restoring the confidence of our litigators as well as the general public.”

Taidi expressed concern that pace of justice is slow in Nigeria. Therefore, according to him, the area should command their attention as improvement in that area is capable of attracting foreign direct investment.

“The slow pace of administration of justice is one area that should command your immediate attention as strengthening the process will not only promote business and other economic activities, but will attract the necessary foreign direct investment which our country earnestly needs.

“I wish you all a fulfilling career on the bench and trust that you will make the Bar proud of your endeavours.” Taidi said
