The Ika Lawyers Association has announced its Inaugural Global Conference, set to hold on October 17, 2025, in Boji Boji Agbor, Delta State, culminating in a grand banquet dinner at the Viana Event Centre, Boji Boji Owa.
The landmark event is expected to bring together Ika sons and daughters from across the globe, including legal practitioners, jurists, academicians, and corporate legal professionals, under a shared platform aimed at promoting the Ika heritage through law and culture.
Themed “THE IKA PEOPLE OF NIGERIA: ADVANCING AND PRESERVING CULTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH THE INSTRUMENTALITY OF THE LAW,” the conference will explore strategies for cultural preservation and socio-economic advancement within Ika communities and beyond.
Emeritus Professor Jim Unah of the University of Lagos, President of the Philosophers Association of Nigeria, is slated to deliver the keynote address. He will be joined by distinguished jurists, academicians, and corporate leaders in what promises to be an intellectually stimulating dialogue. Traditional rulers from the Ika extraction are also expected to participate, highlighting the integration of legal thought with cultural leadership.
At a recent media briefing, Clement Osuya FCIArb (UK), Pro-Term President of the Ika Lawyers Association, expressed enthusiasm for the event. “This event signifies a new dawn for Ika legal minds and culture bearers. We anticipate robust programs that are intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching. We are confident it will leave a lasting impact on all participants and inspire future generations to uphold our heritage with pride and legal insight,” he said.
The association has invited legal professionals, cultural custodians, and the general public to participate in this groundbreaking initiative. Attendees will also earn CPD points for professional development.
