In a decisive move to bolster security and enhance law enforcement operations across Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of 38 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands and police formations.

The redeployment, aimed at reinforcing intelligence-led policing strategies, will see nine CPs taking charge of key state commands while 29 others are assigned to critical police formations across the country. This strategic shift underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to tackling emerging security challenges and ensuring public safety.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi.

The following officers have been assigned to lead their respective state commands:

  • CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba – Zamfara State
  • CP Bretet Emmanuel Simon – Taraba State
  • CP Christopher Ado Emmanuel – Yobe State
  • CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin – Cross River State
  • CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman – Niger State
  • CP Sani Omolori Aliyu – Bauchi State
  • CP Bello Shehu – Katsina State
  • CP Saka Adewale Ajao – Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
  • CP Ojo Adekimi – Kwara State

Beyond the state command deployments, 29 CPs have been posted to various police formations where they will be responsible for implementing tactical measures to enhance national security. These appointments form part of a broader effort to address rising insecurity and improve law enforcement responsiveness at all levels.

The IGP has charged the newly posted CPs with prioritizing intelligence gathering, professional conduct, and proactive security measures. He emphasized the need for commitment to maintaining law and order, combating crime, and ensuring the safety of citizens.

He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to modern policing strategies that incorporate intelligence-driven operations to address security threats effectively.
