The leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned about a fake ‘Visa on Arrival’ video which has spread like wildfire in the social media, stating that it did not emanate from the Service .

The Service which explained that the exercise was yet to commenced and expressed shock at the move by mischief makers further said that high level discussion is still on-going between the Minister of Interior , Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the CG in view of the need to give wider publicity to the policy and get the general public aligned with the good intentions of the federal government.

NIS in a statement by its public relations officer, DCI, Sunday James said, “the attention of the Comptroller General Muhammad Babandede has been drawn to a “Fake” Visa on Arrival video being circulated in some social media by mischief makers and wish to inform the general public that high level discussion is still on-going between the Honourable Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the CG .

Sunday James noted in the statement that the discussion with the minister is in view of the need to give wider publicity to the policy and get the general public aligned with the good intentions of the Federal government.

The statement partly reads, “The Nigeria Immigration Service totally dissociates itself as a very respected and responsible professional service from the purported, image damaging video that has the tendency of misinforming the publics and cast doubt on the good intentions of the government.”

While advising Nigerians to disregard the fake news, they said, “All official releases are done on our official website www.immigration.gov.ng as the most credible and approved platform on which such sensitive national issues can be disseminated and circulated.

The Service therefore callef on the general public to disregard the fake video, while assuring them of a highly professional service delivery in the interest of the nation.
