The Igbo Community Assembly in Apo, Abuja, led by its Chairman, Honorable Ositadinma Patrick Nwoye, has demanded an apology from the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, for alleged derogatory comments made against the Igbo tribe during the demolition of an estate belonging to Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu in the Federal Capital Territory.

In a press conference held in Abuja, Honorable Nwoye stated that the Minister allegedly said, “Why should an Igbo man be given such massive land and there and that he has dealt with Igbos in Port Harcourt that he will do same here in Abuja.” The Assembly has given the Minister a seven-day ultimatum to issue a public apology to the Igbos, failing which he will face the wrath of all Igbos and the gods of Igbo land.

Honorable Nwoye emphasized that such negative comments were not in the best interest of the country, especially at a time when peace and unity are urgently needed. He also questioned the legality of the demolition, claiming that there was a court order restraining the demolition, which the FCT Minister had violated.

The Assembly presented copies of ministerial approvals for the Asokoro Estate as well as copies of the court order preventing the demolition. They accused the Minister of lying about the lack of ministerial approvals and proof of service.

Furthermore, the Assembly alleged that Mr. Wike had stated that judges were selling court orders and demanded that he apologize to the judiciary, especially considering his status as a lawyer and a beneficiary of the judicial system in Nigeria.

The Igbo Community Assembly described Mr. Wike’s actions as mere intimidation, hatred, and envy towards the Igbos and called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and call the Minister to order.
