Businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared his intention to work against former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 presidential election, while trading words with businessman Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, over his romance with the City Boy Movement, a group aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Cubana Chief Priest made this known during an Instagram exchange with followers on Wednesday, confirming his stance after being asked directly.

A user asked him directly, “So in simple terms, You are working against Obi in the upcoming presidential election. lol.”

Responding, Cubana Chief Priest confirmed his stance, writing, “yes oh hope say no be crime cuz I worked for Obi last election even as special adviser to an APC governor.”

His comment sparked reactions from users, including one who referenced his past encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In reply, Cubana Chief Priest downplayed the concern, stating, “if you never go EFCC for naija you never make am.”

The exchange with Isaac Fayose began after Fayose uploaded a video on Instagram claiming that the Igbo are “easy to buy” as long as one has “money and power.”

Fayose had argued that most Igbo businessmen have forgotten about their cry for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and have instead pursued their personal gains by forming alliances with the Tinubu-led government.

Reacting on Wednesday on the photo-sharing app, Cubana Chief Priest said he chose to support the Tinubu administration because he is an employer of labour who must make decisions that will benefit his businesses.

“Over 30 governors align and you are crying because an ordinary businessman aligned? Power pass power,” he wrote.

He challenged Fayose to a public business debate, questioning the source of his wealth and referencing Fayose’s brother’s eight-year tenure as governor.

Cubana Chief Priest argued that he can only influence the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by being “inside the government” and not from the position of an opposition member.

“You want me to negotiate the release of Nnamdi Kanu by being in opposition? I have chosen my path – business and politics,” he stated.

The self-professed celebrity barman declared his support for President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, expressing confidence in the president’s policies.

“As for me and my family, we have decided to stay with the moving train, Renewed Hope,” he said.

Cubana Chief Priest also highlighted his investments in hospitality and real estate, particularly in his home community, insisting he has contributed significantly to economic development and job creation.

He accused Fayose of jealousy and attempting to recruit him into political opposition, maintaining that he is “not an activist” but a businessman focused on growth and partnerships.

The discussion also touched on Biafra and political support from the South-East, with Cubana Chief Priest telling a user to support their preferred candidate.

He emphasised the need for development in the South-East, questioning the user’s contributions to the region.

“Go and support who you want to support as you like Biafra reach how many developments you don do for south East,” he wrote.

Fayose responded by going down memory lane as to when he started making his money. He argued that if Nigeria were a “working” country, Cubana Chief Priest would be in jail like fraudster Hushpuppi, “because Chiefpriest’s wealth cannot be traced.”

Cubana Chief Priest, his former boss Obi Cubana, and other Igbo businessmen have been criticised by Nigerians for forming alliances with the Tinubu-led government.
