The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators held a special Fellowship Course for Judges, Chief Magistrates, Magistrates and qualified Legal Practitioners on the 4th and 5th of July, 2019 in Enugu.

It was a highly interactive and enlightening program with the participants showing a keen interest in the principles and practice of Mediation. It was an excellent experience for both the participants and the faculty.

Hon. Justice Afamefuna Anthony Nwobodo of the Enugu State Judiciary, a representative of the class of thirty-four (34) participants, offered to give a vote of thanks to the Institute and stated that the Mediation Skills Accreditation and Certification Training leading to Fellowship of the Institute is one of the best professional trainings he has ever attended. He extended his thanks to the President of the Institute, Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu, on behalf of all present, for putting together an amazing faculty for the program.

He stated further that the participants are looking forward to the Induction Ceremony of the Institute with enthusiasm, and looking forward to creating more practice opportunities for Mediation with hope.

He advised the participants who are willing to practice now to do so with diligence, and the judicial officers, who will wait for retirement, to continue to undergo professional trainings of ICMC, and other credible organizations, in order to garner more knowledge and build up their capacity.

Hon. Justice Nwobodo informed the faculty that more doors will open in the state for Mediation, and the peacebuilding and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) ADR advocacy efforts of ICMC will not be in vain.

The ICMC President thanked His Lordship for his kind words and the excitement shown by the participants for the Fellowship course. He applauded Hon. Uchenna Cyril Anioke, the Chairman of the ICMC Enugu Branch, for responding to the interest of the judicial officers in becoming members of the Institute, and his efforts in liaising with the Enugu State Judiciary to put together this unique training.
