*Says Fubara Boasted of Using Judiciary to Influence Nigeria’s Next Presidential Election
*Alleged Economic Sabotage Plans Under Fubara’s Watch
*Hails Tinubu’s State of Emergency in Rivers, Warns of Ongoing “Sinister Plans”
*Accuses Fubara of Squandering State Funds, Holding Secretive Meetings with Militant Leaders

Dr. George Nweke, the immediate past Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, has publicly declared that he resigned voluntarily and not under pressure, using a press briefing to expose alleged destructive plots by suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, including attempts to burn down the State House of Assembly and destabilize Nigeria’s economy, while thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for averting a crisis through a state of emergency.

In a candid address streamed on Channales TV, Dr. George Nweke, FCA, who recently stepped down as Rivers State Head of Service, clarified swirling media speculation about his exit. “I was not sacked, neither was I pressured to resign. I did so willingly from the depth of my heart,” he stated, emphasizing his patriotic duty to speak out as an insider in Fubara’s administration. Appointed by the now-suspended governor, Nweke expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve but warned that silence would be “unfair” given the troubling trajectory he witnessed.

Nweke recounted a series of alarming incidents, starting with an alleged directive from Fubara to his Chief of Staff, Edison, to burn down the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on Moscow Road. “I was there when a bag of money was handed over to Edison for that operation,” he claimed, asserting the act aimed to thwart a suspected impeachment plot. He challenged the governor and his associates to an “open confrontation” to shed light on the incident, which he said was executed by Edison and his cohorts under Fubara’s instruction. A day later, Nweke nearly resigned but hesitated, fearing the governor’s power and his own knowledge of the scheme.

He further alleged a second plot to demolish the residential quarters of Assembly members, thwarted only by a press conference from Rivers elders and National Assembly members. Nweke revealed Fubara later confided in him, lamenting not destroying the Assembly’s new hall earlier. “I was brutally shocked,” Nweke said, questioning how a leader could destroy state assets in a “needless ego fight.”

Praising President Tinubu’s declaration of a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, ratified by the National Assembly, Nweke credited it with averting “the worst economic sabotage” and preventing Rivers and neighboring states from “going up in flames.” He urged critics of the measure to retract their statements, arguing they speak from ignorance. “If they had knowledge, they’d commend Mr. President,” he insisted, warning of “sinister plans” still simmering under Fubara’s watch.

"I Resigned Willingly": Former Rivers HoS Dr. George Nweke Breaks Silence, Alleges Sinister Plans By Governor Fubara Many Nigerians on social media have criticized Dr. George Nwaeke, suggesting that he appeared to be under duress while making his allegations, which they believe lack credibility.

Nweke dropped a bombshell, claiming Fubara boasted of using the judiciary to influence Nigeria’s next presidential election. “He told me they will use the judge to decide who becomes the next president,” Nweke recounted, quoting Fubara’s assertion that he, as “chief secrets of real estate,” alongside his brother controlling Bayelsa State and pipelines, would mobilize “the boys” with ample funding. Nweke linked this to Fubara’s public remark, “I would tell the boys what to do at the appropriate time,” suggesting a plot to destabilize President Tinubu’s government by bombing oil facilities in Ogoniland and Ijaw areas, with backing from ex-Governor Peter Odili’s family and university council contacts.

The former HoS accused Fubara of squandering state resources on frequent visits from stakeholders like Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi, who allegedly received hefty sums to support a potential presidential bid. He also flagged secretive meetings with militant leaders, each concluding with “huge sums of money in cash,” though he lacked access to details. Nweke called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to rein in its Rivers chapter chairman, alleging the governor compromised labor leaders with largesse.

Addressing Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), Rivers’ Sole Administrator, Nweke urged heightened vigilance against ongoing “dastardly plans,” warning that orchestrated media attacks on Tinubu and the National Assembly reflect a broader scheme. “Those who love democracy, Rivers State, development, and humanity will always protect it,” he said, hailing Tinubu as a “hero” for safeguarding both. “I can now sleep having cleared my conscience,” Nweke concluded, signing off with blessings for Nigeria and Rivers State.
