The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN)  National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of  2nd of June, 2022, themed: “MULAN: Between Professional Challenges and Societal Expectations” was held at the  National Mosque Conference Hall, Central Business District, Abuja.

The Guest Speaker for the Meeting was Prof. Kamal Daud, a past President of MULAN and the Chief Host was Prof. Abdulqadir Abikan, the President of MULAN, while the Host of the meeting was Y. D Danganna, the MULAN Chair, Abuja Branch.

While delivering his Goodwill Message, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN noted that he was accompanied by friends and colleagues from Abuja and other branches of the NBA who are also members of the MULAN. He noted that his Personal Goodwill Message was contained on Page 17 of the programme of event and that there are two other goodwill messages from the Young Lawyers’ Group and the Women Group of J-K Gadzama LLP, both on Page 20 of the programme of event.

Chief Gadzama happily informed the gathering that as the Shettima Ilmuye of Borno, he brings greetings from the Shehu of Borno, and also that as the Sardauna of Uba, he brings further greetings from the Emir of Uba.

Chief Gadzama, who is also the Bobajiro of Akure Kingdom and the Okwuluora of Ukpo, explained that MULAN was no stranger to him as he is an associate member because he has attended many of MULAN’s functions; and those he could not personally attend,  he had always sent representatives.Chief Gadzama further declared that he knows the challenges and issues presently bedevilling MULAN.

“You need someone who wears the shoes and knows where they pinch. You need someone who lives under the roof and knows where the roof leaks” Chief Gadzama said. He pointed out that though there is a school of thought advocating for the deregistration of MULAN and CLASFON, he is against it.

” I am the link between the Bar and the society.  I am the link between the Young Lawyers and the Elders. I am the link between the litigation lawyers and the commercial lawyers. I am also the link between  MULAN  and CLASFON  because by nature I am a fair-minded fellow and I can carry the two along” Chief Gadzama declared.
