At the interactive session held with Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama, SAN and members of the NBA Dutse Branch on Friday, May 6, 2022, distinguished members of the bar such as M.A Abubakar (Former Governor of Bauchi State), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN (Former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs) and Mohammed Monguno (Former Attorney General of Borno State and Senior Partner at J-K Gadzama LLP), Members from the NBA Kano, Ungogo and Jigawa Branches commended the Learned Silk for his laudable, exceptional and remarkable commitment towards the development of the Legal Profession and welfare of Young Lawyers and members of the Nigerian Bar Association in General.

In his opening remark, His Excellency M.A Abubakar stated that Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama is a Bar Man Par Excellence. Without any fear of contradiction, His Excellency stated that “I am 42 years post call and I do not think I know of anyone in recent times who has served the Legal Profession like J-K Gadzama, SAN”.

He further stated that because of the Learned Silk’s passion and dedication towards the welfare and mentorship of Young Lawyers, he was honored by the most distinguished body in the legal profession as the Chairman, Mentoring Committee of the Body of Benchers for Young Lawyers. His Excellency further commended the Learned Silk for the inclusivity achieved in his firm by providing jobs for lawyers irrespective of their state of origin and gender. His Excellency M.A Abubakar concluded his remark by stating that “if there’s anybody who has served his time in terms of working for the Nigerian Bar Association, it is J-K Gadzama, SAN.

The Former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Taminu Turaki, SAN attested to the words spoken by His Excellency, M. A Abubakar about the Eminent Silk. In his address, the Learned Silk stated that to talk about the good deeds of the Sardauna of Uba (Joe-Kyari Gadzama,SAN) you will need more than a month.

The Learned Silk when speaking about the character, accomplishments and qualifications of Joe-Kyari Gadzama,SAN stated that “he has been everything and anything, any lawyer can be”. Kabiru Taminu Turaki, SAN described the Learned Silk as a quintessential bar man and his inspiration to attain the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Being a member of the Nigerian Law School Class of 1986 himself, the Former Minister described the Learned Silk as a pacesetter for the Class of 1986. He concluded by stated that “No one has made the amount of sacrifices Gadzama has made in the legal profession. He has been committed to the service of the bar.”

The Former Attorney General of Borno State, Mohammed Monguno spoke highly of the Learned Silk’s selfless service to the bar. He stated that Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama, SAN is a man “who stands for fairness, professional excellence and who has always offered himself for others to climb and grow even more than himself”.

He further stated that this unique quality of the Learned Silk is the reason why he is recognized and honored in all parts of Nigeria; in the Western part as the Bobajiro of Akure, in the North as the Sardauna of Uba, and in the Eastern region as the Okwuluora of Ukpo. He further stated that the Learned Silk has been recognized even by the Federal Republic of Nigeria having been honoured with the title of OFR and MFR.

Indeed, the Learned Silk’s accomplishments and qualifications are unquestionable and his unwavering commitment to the development of the legal profession is highly commendable.
