Aluzu is demanding details of the revenue allocation from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC to the 8 Local Government Councils in the state between December 2011 and August 2018. He said he is making the requests as an individual and an indigene of the state, hinged on the provisions of Section 5(1) of the Freedom of Information, FOI, Act of 2011. Aluzu said information gotten from Debt Management Office shows that the state is indebted to the tune of over ₦120 trillion. He said the amount owed by the state government is $57,256,211.04 and ₦129,469,645,258.94 both domestic and foreign debt. He said he was asking for access to the statutory allocation of the state between December 31, 2011 and August 31, 2018 after efforts made to access same at state level became futile. He said a reply from the Accountant General will enhance citizens participation in governance. “This goes to show that we are committed to accountable and transparent governance in Bayelsa state. “The decision to request for access to the information was informed by unwillingness of the state government to grant same” He said. He gave a seven-day ultimatum within which to respond to the request.]]>
