Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to hold Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, accountable if she or her supporters face any violence during her scheduled visit to her constituency for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

In a statement posted on her official Facebook page on Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to visiting Kogi Central despite heightened tensions and a government-imposed ban on rallies and public gatherings.

“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Òdodo, Yahaya Bello, and SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible,” she wrote.

Her warning follows her defiance of the Kogi State Government’s directive prohibiting political gatherings, which authorities say was implemented due to security concerns.

Despite calls from the Kogi State Police Command to cancel her visit, Akpoti-Uduaghan has assured her supporters that the event will proceed as planned and has encouraged them to turn out in large numbers to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with her.

In a further escalation of security measures, the Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Amoka Monday, has imposed a curfew across the council area.

Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media show supporters of Akpoti-Uduaghan preparing for her homecoming rally, with hundreds of women singing and drumming in anticipation of her return.
