Actor and politician, Emeka Ike, has said he is prepared to take action against Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the alleged exposure of his personal voter information from the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ike, who is from Imo State, contested the House of Representatives seat for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory under the Nigerian Democratic Congress but lost.

The controversy followed a post by Olayinka on X, where he claimed that Ike was formerly registered to vote in Imo State before transferring his voter registration to the FCT.

Olayinka wrote, “Emeka Ike was a registered voter in Imo State. He only transferred his INEC Registration to the FCT on May 15, 2026 (15 days ago).

“And he wants to contest for House of Reps in Abuja! Someone who has never voted in the FCT o. What happened to his Imo State? This Obidient people enh!!!”

The post was accompanied by screenshots that many users alleged contained details obtained from INEC’s administrative login portal.

Some of the information displayed in the screenshots reportedly included Ike’s application number, registration centre, Voter Identification Number, profile picture, name and date of application.

The development triggered criticism on social media, with several users questioning how a political aide could allegedly access or publish a citizen’s voter information from an INEC-related portal.

Reacting on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Ike described the alleged exposure of his personal data as shocking and a display of political rascality.

“It’s quite shocking, extreme, and it is the height of political rascality for a government officer to access a citizen’s information from the INEC cyber,” he said.

According to him, the incident shows the level of impunity in the country and raises concerns about unauthorised access to citizens’ private information.

“It tells you a lot; it shows how much impunity we have flying around, and people have access to things they shouldn’t be having access to, and that’s quite deplorable. I see that as a huge insult and slap on every political party and every Nigerian,” Ike said.

He added that the incident should worry all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, because it suggests that private voter information could be accessed and used for political attacks.

“He is telling every Nigerian that whoever you are, I can pull your information from anywhere and I can do what I want, and that rascality needs to be stopped,” he said.

Ike said he was ready to challenge Olayinka over the matter, insisting that no public official had the right to exploit his privacy.

“Actions are ready, I’m ready to take him on. He has no right to exploit my privacy and insult Nigerians the way he did. If he has been doing it in the past, this should be the last time he does it,” he said.

The incident has intensified concerns over the security of citizens’ voter data and the need for INEC to clarify how private voter details allegedly found their way into the hands of a political aide.
