Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra are reportedly rekindling their relationship after spending Easter together in Barcelona, according to a report by The Sun, citing Catalan newspaper El Nacional.
The couple, who shocked the public by announcing their separation in January after 30 years together, had initiated divorce proceedings just a month later. However, their recent three-day reunion in Barcelona has sparked renewed hope for their marriage, with sources close to the pair claiming they are “giving each other another chance.”
Cristina, a fashion entrepreneur, had moved back to Barcelona in 2019 to focus on her business, marking the beginning of the couple’s physical separation. Their split was reportedly accelerated last November when Guardiola extended his contract with Manchester City until 2027, a decision that seemingly signaled the end of their long-distance relationship.
But things appear to have taken a positive turn. A source told El Nacional that Guardiola has now committed to flying to Barcelona once a week between fixtures to ensure regular contact with Cristina. The couple, who share three children — Maria, Marius, and Valentina — are also said to still be wearing their wedding rings.
Their reconciliation reportedly began last month, when Guardiola secretly returned to the family home in Barcelona following City’s 3-1 FA Cup victory over Plymouth.
“They spent three nights together in Barcelona, both staying at the family home,” a source said. “Pep went to the dentist on Monday while Cristina visited her fashion shop. They later met up at the shop and spent three hours together before returning home to spend the evening together.”
Guardiola flew back to Manchester the following morning.
The pair first met in 1994 but didn’t tie the knot until 2014, marrying in an intimate ceremony just outside Barcelona. Over the years, they maintained a long-distance relationship, with Cristina living in Barcelona with their daughter Valentina, while Guardiola remained in the UK with their other two children.
Despite their separation in December, both parties insisted on a cordial process, even sharing the same legal team during the divorce proceedings. In February, respected Spanish journalist Lorena Vázquez reported that the couple had already agreed on the initial terms of a multi-million pound settlement, designed to be as amicable as possible.
“They want it above all to be friendly for the sake of their children,” said Vázquez. “Money is not an issue, and they have a very good relationship — so much so that the same lawyer is handling the entire process.”
