The Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday, Friday 10th May 2019 swore-in Hon. Justice Olalekan Moses Adegbite and Hon. Justice Aliyu Hammed Gegele as the Judges of the Kwara State High Court while Hon. Kadi Sharafu Hannafi and Hon. Kadi Abdurraheem Ahmad Sayi were equally sworn-in as the Khadi of Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal respectively.
The action was in compliance with section 271 sub-section 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, which provides that “the appointment of a Judge of the High Court of a State, shall be made by the governor acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC)”.
Section 276 sub-section (2) of the said Constitution also provided that the appointment of a Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal of a State shall be made by the governor acting on the recommendation of the NJC.
