Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has presented four additional Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to newly elevated judges, bringing the total number of SUVs given to judges in the state to 37.

The governor made this known during the presentation of the four vehicles to the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi, at the High Court premises in Lokoja on Thursday.

Representing the governor, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Muiz Abdullahi SAN, stated that these vehicles were in addition to the 33 vehicles earlier presented by the state government.

The governor commended the judges and judiciary workers, describing them as the “engine room” responsible for making Kogi State safe. He assured the judges of the executive arm’s continued cooperation and support for the judiciary, adding that more assistance will come.

He noted, “This is just the beginning,” and emphasised that the government would not go back on its promises. Addressing the Chief Judge, Governor Ododo acknowledged the challenges faced by judges at the lower courts and promised that better days are ahead for them, especially concerning their welfare.

In response, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi, expressed his gratitude to Governor Ododo for the administration’s commitment to the welfare of judges in the state. Justice Majebi described the governor’s efforts to uplift the judiciary as unprecedented over the past four months, stating that promises made to the judiciary have so far been fulfilled.

He also disclosed that the state government would soon begin renovating courts across the state.
