Governor Umo Eno has submitted a list of nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers in Akwa Ibom State, seeking confirmation from the State House of Assembly.

In a letter dated February 10, 2025, and addressed to the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the Governor expressed gratitude to the 8th Assembly for its cooperation and cited Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) as the legal basis for the nominations.

The list consists of 27 nominees drawn from various local government areas (LGAs) across the state, including experienced professionals, politicians, and technocrats.

Governor Umo Eno urged the State House of Assembly to give prompt consideration to the nominations to facilitate the effective governance of the state.

The confirmation hearings are expected to commence soon, during which the Assembly will scrutinize the nominees’ credentials and competence.
