Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has officially opened the newly constructed High Court in the Lapai Local Government Area.

He emphasized that this new court “symbolizes our vision to decentralize the judicial process, making justice more accessible to the people of the state.”

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, expressed satisfaction with the construction of the building, which was completed using direct labor.

The Governor said, “the state judiciary has been playing a pivotal role in upholding the principle of justice and fair play for the people of the state, while the state remains committed in bringing to light its New Niger Agenda”.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the state Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik said the decision to renovate the State High Court, in Lapai was born out of the desire by the state judiciary for enhanced maximum productivity.

She explained that the state high court in Lapai has been in a poor state of dilapidation over the years hence the need for the state judiciary to renovate it in order to make it more conducive for the judge and other judicial staff to discharge their duties effectively.

Justice Halima Ibrahim-Abdulmalik said, “the measure would further ensure quick dispensation and administration of justice in line with judicial mandate.

The state Chief Judge reiterated her commitment and determination to provide a conducive working environment for all categories of staff in the judicial arm of government.

She said the construction which was done through direct labour was funded through the meagre resources of the state judiciary.

Ibrahim-Abdulmalik commended the state Government under the able leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his immense support to the state judiciary.

The state Chief Judge thereby assured the executive arm of the government of the state Judicial working relationship at all times.
