Following the letter written by Lagos Lawyer, Olumide Babalola, to the Chief Justice of Nigeria in September 2019 on the necessity of reviewing the extant fundamental rights enforcement procedure rules 2009, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice I.T. Muhammad has expressed his lordship’s decision to attend to the matter.
In a letter to Mr. Babalola dated 2nd January 2020 signed by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Yusuf A. Babasoro, Esq., it was stated thus:
“RE: THE URGENT NEED TO REVIEW THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURE RULES (FREP RULES) 2009.
I have been directed by the Hon. Chief Justice if Nigeria, Hon. Dr. Justice I.T. Muhammad, CFR, FCIArb, FNIALS, Fclm, FNJI, JSC to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 10th September 2019 and inform you that same is being attended to.
Accept the assurances of the esteem regard of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.”
