The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, is set to inaugurate 22 newly appointed Justices of the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
The ceremony, which will also include the swearing-in of 12 Judges of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, is scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Dr. Akande Festus, Director of Information & Public Relations at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, said.
The new Justices, hailing from various states across Nigeria, represent a diverse cross-section of the country’s legal expertise. Among the appointees are Abdullahi Muhammad Liman from Nasarawa State, Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi from Ogun State, and Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike from Rivers State.
The new Justices bring a wealth of experience from their respective backgrounds, which is expected to contribute to the depth and breadth of legal interpretation at the appellate level.
The ceremony underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s judicial system and ensure adequate representation across the nation’s geopolitical zones. It also highlights the importance of the judiciary in maintaining the rule of law and delivering justice to all citizens.
