The Federal Government has announced and released the details of recipients for the National Awards scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 11, at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
Awardees include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Ariwoola and Immediate past Chief Justice Tanko Mohammed, who would both be bestowed with the award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger; together with Director of World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.
Others included in the category are Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, and Mrs. Amina J. Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nation.
The list was published in national newspapers on Sunday by the federal ministry of special duties and inter-governmental affairs.
The awards will be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 11, at an event scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Last weekend, in a leaked list, a total of 437 persons were nominated by the federal government to receive national honours.
The leaked list was inundated with inconsistencies, errors, and the absence of notable names.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki was missing from the list while Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti, was nominated to be awarded commander of the order of the Niger (CON) — an honour he was bestowed by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
