A life Bencher and award winning independent arbitrator, Mrs. Funke Adekoya SAN has endorsed the candidacy of Y.C Maikyau SAN for the position of the NBA President despite personal friendship with JK Gadzama SAN, stating that Maikyau SAN is what the legal profession needs.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Adekoya SAN stated despite friendship with JK Gadzama SAN, it was her view that the NBA need a new kind of leadership. “Even though JK Gadzama SAN is a personal friend, I believe that the NBA is ripe for new leadership. Noting that the last few Bar presidents have been people who cannot be termed “Bar politicians””, She said.

The life Bencher stated strongly that it was her view that Y.C Maikyau SAN was the man for the job. According to her: “I think Y.C Maikyau SAN is what the profession needs now.”

On reasons for her support of Maikyau’s candidacy, the learned silk stated that Maikyau was part of the solution to the challenges of the legal profession and he represented the next generation of leadership.

Her words read thus: “If you are part of the problem, you cannot be part of the solution. He represents the next generation of leadership, involved with the bar but not so involved as to be counted as part of the problem. As such he brings new thinking and new ideas to address the issues of the legal profession.”
