Former Secretary to the Government of Kwara State (SSG) and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Alhaji Saka Abimbola Isau, has passed away at the age of 69. He died on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital in Adewole, Ilorin, after a brief illness.

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and a close ally of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Isau previously served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice during Saraki’s administration.

Despite actively participating in a Board of Trustees meeting of the Ilorin Juma’at Mosque Central Working Committee just a day before his passing, Isau reportedly battled long-term health conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure.

The late legal luminary, who was preparing to celebrate his 70th birthday in March, is survived by his wife and four children, one of whom is also a lawyer. His burial is scheduled for Sunday, with Janazah prayers set to take place at his family house in Gaa Aremu, Ilorin. His two sons are accomplished attorneys: Dr. A. O. Isau, a Law Lecturer at KWASU and Head of Chamber at Saka Isau SAN & Co., and A. F. Isau, Esq., who serves as Deputy Head of Chamber at Yusuf Ali SAN & Co.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq extended his condolences to the bereaved family and associates, describing Isau as a dedicated public servant and legal icon. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed soul and strength for the grieving family.

Similarly, the Speaker of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly, Prof. Ali Ahmad, mourned the loss of Isau, highlighting his invaluable contributions to both the legal and political landscapes of Kwara State. Ahmad expressed that Isau’s absence would be deeply felt by the PDP, the Adewole community, and the legal profession.

Alhaji Saka Isau will be remembered as a distinguished lawyer, an influential political figure, and a loyal ally of the Saraki political dynasty. His legacy of leadership, service, and dedication will continue to inspire many in Kwara State and beyond.
