*Laments Nigeria’s Security Challenges

The Penultimate Governor of the Eastern Bar From, Soseipiriye Long Williams Esq. has lend his voice with the Nigerian Bar Association, the Eastern Bar Forum and other stakeholders in calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Idemili Branch, Chukwubikem J.S. Azoro Esq who is also principal partner in the law firm of Clay & Amicus Solicitors who was heartlessly abducted by gun men at Abagana, Anambra State on Saturday, 14th May, 2024.
The Former Governor expressed profound sadness over the recurring and multiplying cases and reports of abduction of lawyers and other Nigerians across the country by terrorist.
He lamented that the country is on the brink of a failed state with security agencies lying prostrate, unhelpful and disappointing in the face of the avalanche of security challenges facing Nigerians.
Sometimes criminals and terrorist should realize that those they abduct for whatever reason are in total mess politically, economically and psychologically with them in the current Nigerian situation. He called on criminals and terrorist to leave suffering Nigerians alone so that they can eke out a living for themselves in this bad, terrible and unfortunate situation we have all found ourselves.
Security agencies should rise up and live to their names and billings. Having bogus but untrained, unmotivated, corrupt and indiscipline personnel is not the panacea to the security conundrum we have found ourselves as a nation. Currently Nigeria is sliding towards a failed and terrorist state. There should be a re-organization, reorientation and rejuvenation of the Nigerian Security architecture to meet modern realities and challenges.
Presently, we are far behind the basic threshold of terror prevention, contention and elimination. The days of condemnation of such acts has long evaporated, he called for swift, decisive and sustainable action against terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of crime and criminality in Nigeria.
Mr. Williams urged the kidnappers to immediately and unconditionally cause a release of Chukwubikem J.S.Azoro Esq and also a release of all other Nigerians who have been held captive in the country and beyond our borders.
He called on Nigerians to be vigilant as that’s the only way to protect the future. The days of throwing up our hands in total helplessness should be gone for if we remain helpless and do nothing, God will do nothing.
