The Fmr Chief Judge who was represented by Hon. Justice Christine said this during the Special Induction Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators Nigeria for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ); a German donor agency, which held on the 23rd of October, 2018 in Jos, Plateau State. She expressed hopes that all the new Inductees will join hands with the Judiciary and ICMC as partners in justice to ensure that Mediation takes paramount importance in Plateau state. Speaking during the ceremony, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Plateau State, Hon. Jonathan A. Mawiyau, who chaired the occasion recalled that as a litigator, he has gotten a taste of all ADR mechanisms and has come to the realization that Mediation is his preferred Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism; because parties always leave Mediation satisfied with the outcome. The Attorney General called for a paradigm shift and re-orientation of minds in order for dispute resolution practitioners to understand that disputes, particularly commercial disputes, are best resolved using Mediation and other forms of ADR. The President of ICMC, Chief Emeka Obegolu FICMC, FCIArb, congratulated the inductees while assuring the government and people of Plateau state that the Institute will remain a partner for positive development. The President who was represented by the Director of Training, Dr. Bello Adamu, FICMC, MCIArb, assured the inductees that their training has equipped them with tools to enable them practice mediation in a professional manner. Mr. Akin Omoware, the representative of GIZ and member of the Institute, congratulated all Inductees and reminded them that only those who worked hard and have been deemed worthy in character and learning are currently being admitted to membership of ICMC. He emphasized that ICMC Mediation Skills Training and Induction is only the beginning of the journey and it has given all Inductees the assurance of professionalism in their practice of Mediation, Conciliation and ADR as a whole.]]>
