Flybird Aircraft Management Services Ltd has confirmed that all passengers and crew aboard one of its aircraft are safe following an incident involving an unusual landing at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Sunday morning.

The aircraft, with registration number 5N-ISB, was en route from Abuja to Kano when it encountered difficulties during landing at approximately 9:30 a.m. The jet had 11 passengers and three crew members on board.

Eyewitnesses at the airport reported that the aircraft came to a stop on the runway, prompting an immediate evacuation of all passengers.

“Everyone was quickly brought out of the plane, and thankfully, no injuries were reported,” a source told our correspondent.

In a statement issued in Lagos and signed by its Corporate Communications team, Flybird described the occurrence as an unusual landing, stressing that all established safety procedures were followed.

“The flight crew followed all established operational and safety procedures, bringing the aircraft to a safe stop,” the company said.

Flybird confirmed that all passengers and crew disembarked safely and that no injuries were recorded.

“The aircraft has been secured, and the incident has been formally reported to the relevant aviation authorities,” the statement read.

The company added that a detailed technical inspection and investigation had commenced in line with regulatory requirements.

Flybird reiterated its commitment to safety and operational excellence, pledging full cooperation with aviation authorities as the investigation continues.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about aviation safety in Nigeria, though the quick response and adherence to safety protocols ensured that the unusual landing did not result in casualties.

Aviation authorities are expected to provide further details once the investigation is concluded.
